Sandqvist - Clear Design from Sweden
Sandqvist is the best Swedish export since wonderful children's books, singers in flared trousers, and self-assembly furniture. In 2004, brand founder Anton Sandqvist wrote a new Swedish success story with his bag label, delighting with models that are robust, casual, and not too chic.
The smart bag designer spent his childhood not far from the small town of Glanshammer and, even as a young boy, spent a lot of time outdoors in rural Sweden. He describes this time as formative and incorporates his experiences into the design of shoulder and laptop bags, backpacks, and toiletry bags. One day, he bought an industrial sewing machine online and tried his hand at making his first bag, which, after some hesitation, he offered to a store in Stockholm. The owner of "Grandpa" took ten bags to try out – the proverbial moose test was passed. In 2006, Anton brought his brother Daniel and their mutual friend Sebastian on board. Just four years later, the bags from the likeable Swedes were so successful that Anton Sandqvist quit his well-paid job as a civil engineer to finally devote himself entirely to his beloved messenger bags and backpacks.
