In March 2025, it was that time again: at Sakoi Dresden, parents together with their children had their own ergobag school backpacks individually embroidered, creating something special for the start of the school year.

What the StickBär Embroiders
At the ergobag Embroidery Day, we customize your ergobag accessories for free with a beautiful embroidery of your choice, putting a smile on your and your kids’ faces. We transform your ergobag zip bags, sports bags, or chest pouches from Sakoi into true one-of-a-kind pieces — and you get to watch the process live.
Unfortunately, the ergobag backpack itself and the pencil case are not suitable for embroidery by the impressive embroidery machine due to their firmness. However, gym bags, pencil cases, and super cool reflective Velcro patches are perfect for it.

Looking Back at the ergobag Embroidery Day in Dresden 2023
When ergobag StickBear Thomas Wiesenthal arrived on Prager Straße with the big embroidery machine, we were immediately excited — the thread shone in all colors, and despite the traffic jam just before Dresden, everyone was in a great mood. The colleagues had set up tables and chairs. Thomas was happy about the elevator, so he didn’t have to carry the machine upstairs.
Freshly stocked with new threads (made from recycled PET bottles!) from Madeira in Freiburg, the Melco EMT 16 plus embroidery machine, which weighs 74 kg without the stand, was a real eye-catcher. My daughter and I were amazed as we were the first to have an appointment with the StickBear. We chose a unique design for the gym bag. My daughter got to assist at the machine while I handed out some balloons and chatted with customers and colleagues from Dresden.
How Does the Embroidery Work?
After selecting and adjusting the design on the computer, the ergobag gym bag is placed into an embroidery hoop. Once the machine receives the instructions from the computer, it starts buzzing, and the needle moves up and down rapidly. Occasionally, a thread needs to be loosened, cut, or re-threaded. When the design is finished, the thread is cut, and Thomas removes the hoop from the machine. He also trims any loose threads on the gym bag itself and seals them with a lighter. Then the StickBär hands my daughter her now truly unique gym bag. What a joy!
For the pencil case, the child’s name fits best since there isn’t much space for embroidery. Of course, the machine uses thread in the color of your choice. How beautiful that looks!
Special Reflective Velcro Patches and Zip Sets
If you forgot your ergobag accessories at home, no problem! StickBär Thomas also creates super cool reflective Velcro patches. With such a big selection of designs, my little school beginner had a hard time deciding. She wished for a glowing rainbow—and of course, she got it! The ergobag Sticktag makes it possible. The zip sets, which add even more visibility for school beginners with their bright colors, can also be embroidered. How about a T-Rex or a little robot?
Our Conclusion on the Sticktag
We believe this wonderful event prepares the upcoming elementary schoolers a little more for school. They engage with their backpack accessories and feel a sense of empowerment. They choose which design they want to start school with and who will accompany them every day from day one.
