Medium-sized suitcases for one-week trips
Our medium-sized suitcases offer between 50 and 90 liters of volume and are usually labeled size M by our manufacturers. With a medium-sized suitcase, you're perfectly equipped for trips of up to seven days – although the actual space required naturally depends heavily on individual factors such as the destination and planned activities there.
When traveling by plane, luggage of this size must always be checked in for transport in the cargo hold. Therefore, our manufacturers' medium-sized suitcases often have the term "check-in" in their name. Since bumps and knocks during baggage handling can never be completely avoided, we recommend a suitcase with a robust hard shell for check-in: Behind two closed, one-piece molded or pressed shells made of aluminum or a plastic such as polycarbonate or polypropylene, your luggage enjoys the best possible protection – although this can be quite heavy at this size. Lighter and more flexible are medium-sized suitcases made of stretchy materials such as nylon and polyester or waterproof tarpaulin. You'll appreciate their flexibility when traveling by train, other public transport, or in your own car. In addition, soft luggage offers an advantage that is already excluded from hard luggage of this size due to its design: suitcases made of flexible materials usually have one or more external compartments in which smaller items can be stored separately and are quickly accessible when needed.
Hard and soft luggage also differ in their layout and contents: medium-sized suitcases with two rigid shells are designed with an internal divider – the contents are distributed as evenly as possible between both sections. In soft luggage suitcases of this size, however, the main compartment is usually not divided, but usually has a large, full-size compartment on the inside of the lid. In all models of medium-sized suitcases, the contents are usually secured with tension straps inside. Depending on the model, zipper covers and additional interior compartments offer further organizational options inside.
